My Paraguanian (is that the word?) colleague said that this place has good quality tango shows in BA. He warned me that many are cheesy and not so good, and apparently it's worth the high price to go to a legit one. Now, maybe it's just me, but I have not idea what I'm looking at when I view the menu...

maybe we should learn Spanish. also, Max, our landlord for the week, said he could book us tango shows and get us soccer game tickets. that's cool, but I think we should still do a bit of research on our end to make sure we're not getting something cheesy and we're not getting ripped off.
(funny thing about soccer- when I spoke to Max I told him we'd want to go to a game. at first he assumed we were all women, and he was like, oh, there are some games we wouldn't want to send you to cause it's unsafe. and I was like, really? that's crazy. he meant in terms of insane fans, not neighborhood. I told him there were men w/ us too and his reaction totally changed. thanks, guys!)

That is completely true. This will not be like a DC united game. There will be fences separating the home and away supporters! Nic went to an Argentina v Uruguay game and the away fans arrived with armored security police!
ReplyDeleteThis being said, I still think it would be amazing to go to a game. I think the difference from all of our sporting events would make it a great cultural experience.
From a quick search though, it doesn't seem like there will be any World Cup qualifiers when we are there. But may be the local team will have a game.
yeah, Max said there are *always* games of some sort, so prob during that time we'd go to a local league game, which he said is still a great experience.
ReplyDeletewe should wear black or gray as to not accidentally offend anyone!!!
i'm 100% in for a football game and tango show, though would prefer that the footballers weren't the ones doing the tango!
