lake district - super cool?

So I was reading my Lonely Planet yesterday to get more ideas for the second week. I didn't delve too deeply into Patagonia yet, since frankly I'm overwhelmed by the vast opportunities and size of the place, but I did come across the section on the Lake District. it sounds amazing! it would be ideal if some of us wanted outdoorsy activity mixed w/ small towns (after the more urban BA experience). I think there might also be some wineries around these parts, tho prob not as many as Mendoza.

it's a pretty big area south of Mendoza, bordering Chile and in the Andes. it's actually the NW part of Patagonia. LP recommended renting a car and driving around from town to town, and there are some really neat sounding places, most which are bases for national park exploration. Bariloche is the biggest town and has a ton of chocolate. El Bolson is apparently hippie central, sounds cool. lots of other cool sounding alpine towns..

I would be super excited to spend the second week or a good chunk of it driving around and doing some amazing hiking... this is on the short list of second week activities for me! what do you guys think?
